ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) — A Maryland judge has ruled that a skating coach charged with sex abuse can go free on the condition he surrender to New York authorities within three days.
Howard County District Court Judge Sue-Ellen Hantman also ordered Monday that Genrich Sretenski surrender his passport and post his Clarksville home as bond. Sretenski attorney Rene Sandler says it was not clear if Sretenski could meet the conditions in time to be released on Monday.
The New York charges include felony sexual abuse, forcible touching and child endangerment. He is also accused in a civil lawsuit of fondling a teenage figure skater in a New York hotel room.
Sandler says that the former Olympic ice dancer denies the charges against him and that the case will be aggressively defended.
