BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Slowed by an injury to his left wrist, Juan Martin del Potro is expected to play when Argentina opens its Davis Cup semifinal against the Czech Republic on Friday.

The state-run news agency Telam reported on Wednesday that Del Potro practiced and will join Juan Monaco in singles with Carlos Berlocq and Eduardo Schwank set for doubles.

The Czechs will counter with Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek in singles and probably doubles in the outdoor clay-court tie.

Argentina is trying to reach its second straight final after losing a year ago at Spain. The Czechs lost the 2009 final against Spain.

Argentina has been in four finals, and lost a record four. The Czechs won the title in 1980 as Czechoslovakia.
