Letter: Reassess restrictive dress code

The Columbian
Published: September 11, 2012, 5:00pm

Is anyone else upset over McLoughlin Middle School’s dress code? What gives over there?

After buying school clothes for my 12-year-old grandson, my daughter gets this info sheet dictating that none of those choices are acceptable. Apparently, somebody on a power trip has decided that all children in this public school must only wear plain T-shirts colored white, grey, black or red. Patterns, logos, or any other colors will result in progressive discipline. Pants must only be tan, navy, grey, black or blue jeans. Oh, and “shoes and laces are required at all times.” Excuse me, isn’t this a public school?

This policy is poorly thought out and needs to be readdressed.
