Letter: Ryan plan saves more for seniors

The Columbian
Published: September 12, 2012, 5:00pm

The Obama health plan takes over $700 billion out of Medicare Advantage plans for seniors to spend it elsewhere on younger folks who have mostly paid nothing into it, while doing nothing to reform and prevent Medicare’s looming bankruptcy.

Congressman Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform plan leaves Medicare’s promises intact for those 50 years and older, offers the same privileged plans and options as congressional members enjoy for the rest of us, and could save over $700 billion through efficiencies.

One plan shoves the seniors and their Medicare over a fiscal cliff while promising the opposite and the other offers a real change of course with meaningful, honest reform. We have clear and great choices this election season, despite all the lies about Ryan spread by “progressives” in government and their all too willing media.
