LONDON (AP) — UK Athletics has hired its first performance director in four years, the first change to the body’s management structure that will lead Britain’s track team through the next Olympic cycle.

Neil Black moves from his role as head of sports science and medicine, and will decide who replaces Charles van Commenee, who will step down as head coach in December following Britain’s failure to meet his medals target at the London Games.

Black says “the performance team has worked hard to change the structures and cultures of our sport and I very much look forward to working in partnership with colleagues to build on the success of the last four years.”

Black personally managed the support programs for Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah, two of Britain’s track gold medalists in London.
