MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Brandon Roy says he has not had any setbacks with his troublesome knees as he starts ramping up workouts to prepare for Minnesota Timberwolves training camp.

Roy worked out with several of his new teammates Thursday and says his body feels better than it has in years. The former Portland Trail Blazers All-Star had his contract cleared through the amnesty clause before last season, and he abruptly retired because of chronic knee problems.

After taking last season off and getting some more work done on his knees, Roy is coming back with the Timberwolves, who were looking for a veteran presence at shooting guard.

The Wolves open training camp Oct. 2, and Roy says he can’t wait to get going.
