SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a wanted man was injured after firing at police officers during a search of his house in Salem.

Salem police Lt. Jim Anglemier says police officers were responding to a call of a man carrying a rifle after a fight Thursday night. When officers arrived, the man dropped the rifle and fled on foot.

They determined the man who fled as 41-year-old Ricky Wayne Lewis Jr., who was wanted for possession of Methamphetamine.

Officers were able to track down the man at his house and obtained a search warrant. When officers were searching the house, shots were fired.

Anglemier says officers shot back and hit Lewis, who sustained non-life threatening injuries.
