Love says Medinah will be easier than a major

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — U.S. captain Davis Love III says Medinah will look like a major championship course for the Ryder Cup matches.

But it won’t play like a major.

Love said Monday that he has been asking the grounds crew at Medinah to keep cutting down the rough. The home captain can ask for the course to be set up however he wants. Love says no one wants to see players chipping out of thick rough and making putts for par. He says fans and players want to see birdies and excitement.

The club outside Chicago has hosted the PGA Championship twice and the U.S. Open three times. Love says Medinah is a big course that will look like any other major championship, but it will play easier than a major.
