Letter: GOP platform has backward focus

The Columbian
Published: September 17, 2012, 5:00pm

The recent GOP platform gives me reason to believe that they have lost the ability to see what America is all about, and have taken the same course as Muslim fundamentalists in deciding what’s best for our country. The fear of Sharia law has infiltrated the GOP via the Tea Party and should be considered repressive. Consider the following:

Desire to deregulate government and speculation/corruption is called good business. A male-dominated ideology that wants to control women and their rights. A gun for all to include children; even though our kids and fellow Americans, are being slaughtered. Foreigners are not welcomed. They are as bad as the fundamentalists when using God to make everything they believe in good. Yes, I do fear the GOP’s platform because it takes us back to bad times both economically and socially.
