One issue that is rarely discussed, when it relates to jobs or lack of, is overpopulation and technology. Our population is increasing in record numbers and technology continues to replace the need for people.
For example:
Banks: ATMs and online banking.
Grocery stores: scan your goods and check yourself out.
Gas stations: Pump your own gas.
Post office: Twitter, tweet, text and email.
Newspapers: Read them online.
Let’ face it, technology, as good as it is, impacts jobs.
All of the above-mentioned areas used to employ more people than they do now and they are a big contributor to the unemployment rate.
What has caused this recession/depression is a very complex issue that needs to be thoroughly examined by nonpartisan economists and not by politicians.
