BOSTON (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have activated designated hitter Jim Thome and left-hander Troy Patton from the 15-day disabled list.
Thome was batting .261 in 18 games for Baltimore before going on the DL on July 31 with a herniated disc in his neck. The Orioles had obtained him from the Philadelphia Phillies on June 30.
Patton, placed on the disabled list on Aug. 14 with a sprained right ankle, is 1-0 with a 2.58 ERA in 52 1-3 innings over 50 games this season. He hadn’t allowed a run in 18 consecutive games before he was injured.
