MIAMI (AP) — A former Miami football equipment manager who became a central figure in the Hurricanes’ compliance investigation says he cannot wait for the NCAA inquiry to end.
Sean Allen says in an interview with The Associated Press that he hopes the Hurricanes “walk away relatively unscathed” when the NCAA hands down sanctions, which is expected to occur in early 2013.
Allen first spoke to CBSSports.com for a story published late Friday night.
Former Miami booster Nevin Shapiro told Yahoo Sports last year that he provided Allen with more than $200,000 over an eight-year span, money Shapiro says primarily provided “extra benefits” to Hurricane players and recruits.
Shapiro is serving a 20-year prison sentence for masterminding a $930 million Ponzi scheme.
