LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Andrew Shoop passed for 278 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Gralish kicked two field goals in Lafayette’s 20-14 victory over Bucknell Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

The Leopards (3-0, 1-0) led 17-7 at halftime and held Bucknell (1-2, 0-1) to a touchdown in each half. At 3-0, Lafayette is one win shy of last season’s victory total.

Bucknell, which broke a nine-game losing streak to Lafayette in last year’s 39-13 win in the snow, fared worse in fair weather. Quarterback Brandon Wesley passed for Bucknell’s first touchdown and ran for the second. The Bison lost despite outrushing Lafayette 126-11.

Greg Kessel’s 1-yard scoring run and Gralish’s first field goal gave Lafayette a 10-0 lead. After Wesley hit Nick Gatto on a 12-yard touchdown pass, Shoop answered with an 8-yarder to Brandon Hall. Wesley’s 12-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter wasn’t enough.
