SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Larry McCoy went over 100 yards rushing for the third straight game as Duquesne won its Northeast Conference opener over Bryant 35-21 Saturday.

McCoy picked up 154 yards on 26 rushes and punched in a pair of touchdowns. The senior racked up 171 yards in a win over Valparaiso last week and 125 in a win over Dayton the week before.

The bulk of McCoy’s yards came late as the Dukes (3-1, 1-0) overcame a 21-17 fourth-quarter deficit against the Bulldogs (0-4, 0-2).

Charlie Leventry’s 39-yard field goal cut the lead to 21-20 with 6:15 left, and then McCoy turned in touchdown runs of 54 and 7 yards to ensure the win.

Duquesne’s Sean Patterson tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter, totaling 247 yards on 22-of-36 passing.

For Bryant, Michael Westerhaus threw for two touchdowns to Jordan Harris, going 17 of 36 for 276 yards.
