MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley is not expected to be in court for a scheduled trial on charges including driving under the influence and attempting to elude police.
Attorney Sid Harrell says Fairley will not be there when the trial begins Wednesday morning in Mobile. The Lions are preparing for a game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Fairley was arrested in Mobile County on May 27 after a state trooper said he was traveling at 100 mph in his Cadillac Escalade and initially didn’t pull over. He also faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge Nov. 27 in his hometown of Mobile.
Fairley was a 2011 first-round pick after winning the Lombardi Award and helping lead Auburn to a national title.
