TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have placed running back Beanie Wells on the NFL’s new injured reserve/designated for return list, meaning he won’t be able to play in a game until Nov. 25.

Wells was injured in Sunday’s 27-6 win over Philadelphia.

The new list requires Wells to stay out of practice until Nov. 7 and prohibits him from playing in a game until the Cardinals are home against the St. Louis Rams on Nov. 25.

With the injury, the bulk of the Arizona running game will be handled by second-year pro Ryan Williams, who rushed for 83 yards in 13 carries against Philadelphia.

In a corresponding move, the Cardinals re-signed running back Alfonso Smith.
