A man allegedly tried to set fire to a small shed behind the McLoughlin Church of God, 905 E. Winchell Ave., on Tuesday night.

The fire started at about 8 p.m., though there was no real damage to the shed, the church or a nearby residence, officials said.

Steven M. Lusby, 56, of Vancouver, was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree arson. Bail has not been set. Lusby is reportedly homeless.

The McLoughlin Church of God provides lunch for the homeless from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday.
