Young Buckeyes about to make first road trip

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The first road trip of the year is always a concern.

When you’re playing 15 freshmen, the first away game is enough to give a coach an ulcer.

Yet Ohio State coach Urban Meyer professes to not be worried how his first-year players will handle their first sojourn behind enemy lines when the 14th-ranked Buckeyes travel to take on No. 20 Michigan State on Saturday.

With 12 freshmen listed on the two-deep, no wonder Meyer says he’s got the youngest team in America.

Youth means inexperience, so the coaching staff and the Buckeyes’ veterans will need to reassure their younger players before and during the critical showdown between the Big Ten’s highest ranked teams at hostile Spartan Stadium.
