BANGKOK (AP) — Top-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia out-rallied Fernando Verdasco of Spain from the baseline to win 7-6 (5), 6-4 Friday and move into the Thailand Open semifinals.

Tipsarevic set up a match with 2009 champion Gilles Simon, who won the all-French quarterfinal against Gael Monfils 6-4, 6-1.

He fought back from a 5-2 hole in the tiebreaker to tie it 5-all. Then the fifth-seeded Verdasco made two impatient forehand errors to lose the 52-minute opening set.

Tipsarevic saved several break points to hold for 4-4, broke to go ahead and won the quarterfinal on another forehand error by Verdasco.

Simon came back from 2-0 down to win the first set. He lost the first game on serve in the second, but quickly regained control to reach his sixth semifinals this year.
