The Washington State Department of Transportation is offering a new website for small-business owners to use to secure work on state projects.

The website, Small Business Opportunities, offers how-to help for small companies seeking work as contractors, subcontractors, consultants and vendors. The website is the first step of a new program, to be implemented by spring 2013, that encourages prime contractors to award 10 percent of their transportation projects to small businesses.
