LONGVIEW — Police say a man collecting scrap metal found a body in an abandoned Longview, Wash., metal foundry.

Capt. Robert Huhta tells The Daily News (http://is.gd/6wcL16) the body was found Tuesday afternoon in a 20-foot-deep concrete pit. He says it had been there at least a week.

Huhta called the death suspicious but said detectives were just beginning their investigation. He declined to say whether the body was that of a man or woman.

The newspaper says the long-closed building has become a haven for metal thieves.
