PARIS (AP) — Kenya’s Peter Some won the 37th Paris Marathon on Sunday, while Ethiopian Boru Feyse Tadese clinched the woman’s event in a new record time.

Some claimed his first major marathon victory in 2 hours, 5 minutes, 38 seconds, knocking three minutes off his personal best.

The 22-year-old runner set the second fastest time in the history of the race, 26 seconds slower than Stanley Biwott last year.

Ethiopia’s Tadese Tola finished nearly a minute behind Some after outsprinting Kenyan Eric Ndiema.

In the women’s race, Tadese beat compatriot Merima Mohammed to win in a record time of 2:21:06. Mohammed was more than two minutes behind the 24-year-old Tadese, with Eunice Kirwa of Kenya third.
