AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Augusta National is opening its gates to 88 kids who will try to make a winning putt on the 18th green.
The Masters is joining with the U.S. Golf Association and PGA of America to create a contest called, “Drive, Chip and Putt.” It’s for kids between the ages of seven and 15 who will compete in local and regional competitions. They will score points for tee shots within a 30-yard wide fairway, chips from 10 to 15 yards and three putts from various distances.
The regional winners — boys and girls from four age groups — at 11 sites will gather at Augusta National next year on the Sunday before the Masters. They will use the practice facility for the driving and chipping, and putt on the 18th green.
