BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have called up right-hander Allen Webster to pitch in the second game of a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals.

Webster is scheduled for his major league debut Sunday night in the rescheduled game of Friday night’s postponement because of the manhunt for a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.

At Triple-A Pawtucket, Webster had a 0.90 ERA and no record with 12 strikeouts and three walks in 10 innings during two starts. He was part of the nine-player trade last August that sent Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and Nick Punto to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Red Sox did not have to remove a player from their roster because of a major league rule that allows team to have 26 players for doubleheaders.
