HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — James Madison has given men’s basketball coach Matt Brady a four-year contract extension.

The deal through the 2016-17 season comes after Brady guided the Dukes to a 21-15 record, their first Colonial Athletic Association tournament title in 19 years and their first NCAA tournament bid in the same span. Their first-round victory against LIU Brooklyn was their first NCAA tournament win in 30 years.

Financial terms were not released.

Brady has an 88-82 record in five seasons at James Madison. The Dukes have won 21 games three times under Brady, giving him three of the top seven single-season victory totals in program history. Before his arrival, the program had endured eight consecutive losing seasons.

Athletic director Jeff Bourne says the Dukes’ development has created “genuine excitement for the future.”
