CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals have taken running back Giovani Bernard from North Carolina with the first of their two picks in the second round of the NFL draft.

The pick completes their 2011 deal with Oakland for quarterback Carson Palmer. They got the Raiders’ first-round pick last year, using it on cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. They also got the second-round pick — the 37th overall — in this year’s draft. They also have the 53rd overall pick as their own.

Cincinnati took Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert with the 21st pick overall in the first round on Thursday night.
