LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Rick Pitino is now inked up.

The Louisville coach followed through Friday on his promise to players to get a tattoo if the Cardinals won the NCAA championship, adorning his left shoulder blade with the school’s old-English ‘L’ emblem in red. It’s perpendicularly surrounded by the words ‘2013 NCAA champions, 35-5.’

Athletic department spokesman Kenny Klein tweeted pictures of a topless Pitino in a parlor east of campus with the tattoo his back and a close-up of the finished product. The NCAA championship trophy was nearby.

Pitino revealed the design earlier in the week and his plans to get it at a parlor east of campus before the 139th Kentucky Derby on May 4. He’s part owner of qualifier Goldencents, considered to be a strong contender.
