MANCHESTER, England (AP) — A British court has ordered Blackburn to pay $3.5 million in compensation to former manager Henning Berg.
The former Blackburn defender led the second-tier club for just 57 days of a three-year deal, ending in December after one win in 10 matches.
Blackburn argued that managing director Derek Shaw acted without authority from owner Venky’s — an Indian poultry firm — in granting Berg a contract.
But at the High Court in Manchester, judge Mark Pelling said Monday that Shaw had been “authorized to negotiate and conclude an employment contract.”
