Prep roundup: Big inning carries Camas softball past Skyview, 17-4

A 13-run sixth inning not only broke a 4-4 tie, it broke the game wide open as the Camas softball team blasted Skyview 17-4 on Monday in 4A Greater St. Helens League play.

The win gives Camas (6-0) a two-game lead over Skyview (4-2) in the race for the league title and a season sweep of the Storm.

Harli Hubbard struck out 13 batters to earn the victory for the Papermakers. She was also 3 for 5 with an RBI.

Erin Tauscher hit two home runs and drove in seven, and Tori O’Neil was 3 for 5 with a double and RBI.

Emily Dobbin went 4 for 4 with a double, triple and scored three runs for Skyview.Skyview had the early 2-0 lead when Camas pushed four runs across in the top of the fifth for a 4-2 lead. Skyview answered with two in its half of the inning to tie the game at 4.

Stars of the day

BASEBALL: Joel Worden pitched a complete game two-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Hockinson beat R.A. Long 3-2 to knock the Lumberjacks out of playoff contention.

SOFTBALL: Dalaney Tuholski drove in three runs for Heritage in a 5-4 win over Union.

SOFTBALL: Delany Kelly was 3 for 4 and Carly Hershberger hit a home run in Battle Ground’s 7-4 win over Evergreen.

SOFTBALL: Sierra Carrol went 3 for 4 with a triple, grand slam and five RBI; and Savana Ketner was 3 for 3 with two doubles, a homer and also five RBI in Washougal’s 20-2 win at Hockinson.
