Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, two school buses parked at the Battle Ground Albertsons and Fred Meyer stores will be the collection sites for nonperishable food, paper products and personal hygiene items for the needy. Both stores are on West Main Street.

This annual event is sponsored by the Battle Ground chapter of Public School Employees, SEIU Local 1948 of Washington state. It is working with Cascade Student Transportation, the district’s contract bus company, River HomeLink parents and students, and the two stores.

Last year, 5,445 pounds of goods were collected.
