GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel feels just fine following his first practice since an appendectomy.
Driskel said Friday he “didn’t have any pain, no issues” while returning eight days after emergency surgery.
Driskel’s improving health is good news for the Gators, who need something positive after a rash of injuries, some of them season-ending issues.
The Gators lost senior receiver/kick returner Andre Debose and freshman linebacker Matt Rolin for the year with torn knee ligaments. Defensive tackle Damien Jacobs (sprained knee) and safety Jaylen Watkins (sprained foot) will be sidelined at least a week, and freshman offensive lineman Rod Johnson had surgery Friday to repair torn meniscus in his right knee. Johnson will miss at least three weeks.
Coach Will Muschamp calls the injuries “unfortunate and frustrating for everyone involved.”
