SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Jewel of a Cat wore down heavily favored Magical Moon and won the $100,000 Coronation Cup for 3-year-old fillies by a half-length Monday at Saratoga Race Course.
Chris DeCarlo rode the Ben Perkins-trained filly, who ran 5 12 furlongs over a firm turf course in 1:01.81 and returned $27.20, $5.50 and $3.20. She earned $60,000 for her owners, the GSP Racing Stable and J and J Stable. Magical Moon paid $2.30 and $2.10. Little Sandy, third of five, paid $2.80 to show.
