Letter: Encouraged by experience

As a candidate in the primary for Vancouver City Council, I thank you for your vote. I’m disappointed about not moving forward however your next vote should be for Micheline Doan, who advances in the race for position 1 on the council. She will not only help protect your rights to vote, she will contribute a sensible voice of the people in council.

This was my first time running for an elected office. I learned a lot, and enjoyed the camaraderie of my constituents who were helping me. Although I did not follow a typical recipe for success by having fundraisers and asking for money, I only came up shy of moving forward with a budget of less than $1,000. Getting over 3,000 votes by word of mouth and a small budget is something to be happy about. Please remember to vote for Doan in November.
