DAVENPORT, Iowa — Laddy, a 7-year-old border collie who was missing for two days, has been found two blocks from his Iowa home — stuck up a tree.

Ron Stevenson tells the Quad-City Times that he was working in the yard of his Davenport home Sunday morning when he heard a dog whining. He followed the sound along his driveway and looked up to see a dog at least 10 feet up in the tree.

Stevenson retrieved the dog. A police officer who responded to his 911 call had seen fliers and knew where the dog lived.

After their reunion, Laddy’s owner Cynthia Weeks said the dog probably was chasing a squirrel.

Stevenson says Laddy maybe ran up the oak’s gradually sloping trunk but then became too scared to run back down.
