ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have put designated hitter Luke Scott on the 15-day disabled list because of lower back spasms.

The move was announced before Saturday night’s game against Toronto.

The Rays also reinstated reliever Brandon Gomes, who missed 88 games with a right lat strain, from the 60-day disabled list. They transferred right-hander Jesse Crain from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list.

Crain, sidelined by a strained right shoulder, is not expected back until next month.

Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said center fielder Desmond Jennings is scheduled to play for Class A Charlotte on Sunday and could rejoin the team Monday. He is out with a broken left middle finger.

All-Star pitcher Matt Moore, out since July 29 with left elbow soreness, is set to play catch Sunday after being shut down for three days.
