VSAA graduate takes dance troupe to Scotland arts festival

The Columbian

Shumway — Vancouver School of Arts and Academics graduate and professional dancer Éowyn Emerald Barrett took her dance company to Scotland this month to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe — billed as the largest arts festival in the world. “It is the first international tour of my work!” Barrett said in an email. Posted audience reviews of “Éowyn Emerald & Dancers” are raves: “Scenes of great physicality are contrasted with pieces of calm elegance and grace in which body extensions show a sense of line and poise. They are an accomplished group, making a dynamic and refreshing contribution to dance at the Fringe.” And: “My wife plans to go again before we leave!” Check out Barrett’s work at
