ST. LOUIS (AP) — Atlanta Braves slugger Justin Upton has been ejected after arguing with home plate umpire Paul Nauert while leaving the field after a groundout.

Upton broke into a sprint somewhere around the mound during the sixth inning, but manager Fredi Gonzalez was already on the field to keep the two apart. It was unclear what angered Upton, who was 0 for 3 and took a called third strike to end the third on Friday night.

Evan Gattis replaced Upton at the second slot in the order and played left field, with Jordan Schafer moving from left to right.
