CINCINNATI (AP) — Coach Tommy Tuberville hasn’t picked a quarterback for Cincinnati’s season opener on Saturday against Purdue.

Brendon Kay and Munchie Legaux had minor injuries during the Bearcats’ camp and neither one ran the offense smoothly enough for Tuberville to name one the starter. He said on Tuesday that he plans to choose one later in the week, but both are likely to play.

Legaux started last season but was replaced by Kay after he struggled with interceptions and a low completion percentage. Kay had the edge heading into the season, but a sore passing shoulder caused him to miss time during workouts this month.

It’ll be Tuberville’s first game as Cincinnati’s coach. He came from Texas Tech after Butch Jones headed to Tennessee.
