MONTREAL (AP) — The World Anti-Doping Agency says it has withdrawn its accreditation from the testing laboratory in 2016 Olympic host city Rio de Janeiro for “repeated failures.”

WADA announced the decision Tuesday, less than 10 months before the lab is to analyze players’ samples for the World Cup in Brazil.

WADA says the lab can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport before the revocation takes effect Sept. 25. The lab has been suspended since Aug. 8 from testing any anti-doping samples.

WADA has not said how the lab has failed in its work.

In 2012, the Rio center was barred from performing a certain kind of test for nine months after falsely accusing a Brazilian beach volleyball player of doping with testosterone.
