PORTLAND — The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says a hiker died after falling from a trail in the Columbia River Gorge.

Lt. Steve Alexander says the man fell Saturday from near the top of the Angel’s Rest trail. The man was hiking with a woman when he fell an estimated 75 feet. The woman called 9-1-1, leading rescue workers to the area.

The hiker’s name won’t be released until after his relatives have been notified.
