ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan has suspended starting safety Thomas Gordon for one game for an unspecified violation of team rules.

The school made the announcement Saturday before kicking off the season at home against Central Michigan.

Wolverines coach Brady Hoke says Gordon wasn’t accountable to his teammates, adding the senior has learned a valuable lesson from this situation.

Gordon started in every game last season and in 27 games during his career.

Michigan is ranked No. 17 in The Associated Press college football poll.
