Albany beats NJIT 66-55

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — DJ Evans scored 17 points and four teammates scored in double digits Sunday as Albany (NY) came from behind to beat NJIT 66-55.

Gary Johnson and Sam Rowley each had 12 for Albany (4-3), and John Puk and Peter Hooley each scored 10.

Damon Lynn scored a game-high 24 points, including five 3-pointers, for NJIT (4-4), and shot 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.

Puk started the game with a dunk, but NJIT quickly got to work and went on a 15-1 run, pulling away for a 26-19 halftime advantage.

Albany rallied in the second half, tying it at 33 on a 3-pointer by Evans, then went on an 11-0 run to take a 44-37 lead with 10:24 to play. Terrence Smith made it a 2-point game with 6:06 to play, but Albany pulled away by 11 points and held NJIT at bay down the stretch.
