GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Akeem Richmond poured in a career-high 37 points and sank a school-record 10 3-pointers to help East Carolina coast past Division-II Fayetteville State 96-78 Tuesday night.

The Pirates (7-2) shot 50 percent from the field, riding Richmond’s 10-of-17 performance beyond the arc. Richmond’s only field goal attempt inside the perimeter came on a made jumper early in the second half. He also hit all five of his free throws.

Three other Pirates scored in double figures including Caleb White (14), Prince Williams (12) and Paris Roberts-Campbell (11).

Fayetteville State kept the game in reach for most of the first half, pulling within two on a Travis Marcus layup at the 4:00 mark. East Carolina answered with a 12-4 run to take a 45-35 lead at the break.

The Broncos couldn’t pull closer than eight the rest of the way. Torian Showers scored 18 points while Tyrrel Tate added 17.
