STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) — Bryce Scott scored 18 points and Nick Lindner added 17 with 13 free throws to help Lafayette defeat Wagner 77-65 Tuesday night.

The Leopards (2-5) overcame an early 12-9 deficit and surged ahead with a 19-2 run fueled by two Seth Hinrichs 3-pointers as well as four free throws and a layup by Lindner.

Wagner (4-5) fought back early in the second half and closed within four on a three-point play by Kenneth Ortiz, but Lafayette answered with a 14-5 run to make the score 54-41.

The Seahawks couldn’t pull closer than six as Lafayette drained late 11 free throws to hold the lead.

Lindner missed just one of his 14 attempts from the foul line and Hinrichs and Dan Trist each scored 12 points for the Leopards.

Jay Harris paced Wagner with 23 points, netting seven of his 11 3-point attempts. Latif Rivers had 13 points for the Seahawks.
