CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Elijah Wilson shot 11-of-15 from the field, scoring 23 points, and Josh Cameron added 17 as the two led a late run to help Coastal Carolina to a 76-68 win over Western Carolina on Wednesday night.
After Western Carolina took a 61-60 lead with 5:06 remaining — its first lead since the game’s opening minutes — Wilson and Cameron combined to score the game’s next nine points to give Coastal Carolina (3-5) a 69-61 advantage with two minutes to play. The Chanticleers then made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to help seal the win.
Despite going just 3-of-19 on 3-pointers, Coastal Carolina shot 19-of-23 from the free throw line, including 10-of-11 from Cameron. Western Carolina (5-6) made just 14 of 25 free throws.
Michael Enanga led the Chanticleers with 10 rebounds and added 10 points.
Brandon Boggs scored 12 for Western Carolina.
