NEW YORK CITY (AP) — Mandell Thomas hit back-to-back 3-pointers in an early run and finished with a season-high 19 points as Fordham raced away from Furman en route to a 79-48 victory on Wednesday night.

It took the Rams (3-2) just five seconds off the opening tip to score on a Brian Smith layup — his only field goal of the game. Thomas hit back-to-back 3s in the run as Fordham soon led by 11, and extended the lead to 25 by halftime.

Thomas was a perfect 3-for-3 on 3-pointers, and Jon Severe hit 5 of 8 long-range shots to finish with 23 points — his fourth game over 20 this season. Ryan Rhoomes had career highs with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Smith added 12 boards.

The Paladins (3-3) were led by Dominic Early’s career-best 21 points. Furman shot just 34 percent from the field, 0-11 on 3-point attempts. Fordham out-rebounded Furman 45-25.
