Incarnate Word defeats St. Edward’s 77-67

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Ian Markolf and Denzel Livingston both posted double-digit points and rebounds as Incarnate Word held off St. Edward’s 77-67 on Wednesday night.

Markolf and Livingston each had 20 points. Markolf grabbed 13 rebounds and Livingston 11 for the Cardinals (7-1).

Kyle Hittle added 13 points and Anthony Horton and Sam Burmeister 10 apiece for Incarnate Word.

The Cardinals scored 52 points in the paint that led to a 52.6 shooting percentage. They shot 63 percent in the first half when they took their biggest lead at 19 points. However, the Hilltoppers cut the lead to eight at halftime and closed to within a point twice in the second half, the last time with 3:39 remaining.

The game was an exhibition for the Division II Hilltoppers. Frankie Mgbolu had 11 points and 10 rebounds for St. Edward’s while John Gramlich scored 12 points and Ethan Gilbert 11.
