No. 16 Memphis defeats Northwestern State 96-76

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Shaq Goodwin scored a career-high 21 points, Memphis 54 percent for the game and the No. 16 Tigers defeated Northwestern State 96-76 on Saturday.

Goodwin was 8 of 11 from the field for Memphis (6-1). Joe Jackson scored 18 points with five assists and Michael Dixon Jr. finished with 14 points, connecting on 6 of 9 from the field.

Jalan West had 15 points to lead Northwestern State (3-4), which lost for the fourth time in its last five. DeQuan Hicks scored 13 points. Patrick Robinson had 12 points for Northwestern State, which shot 40 percent from the field. That included only 3 of 18 shots from outside the arc.

Memphis never trailed in the game and led by as many as 30 with just over 6 minutes left. At that point, Memphis coach Josh Pastner substituted his starters.
