VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Dwayne Evans scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds in helping Saint Louis squeeze by Valparaiso 67-65 on Saturday night.

Grandy Glaze added 14 points for Saint Louis.

St. Louis (8-2) led 39-30 at intermission due in part to Valpo’s 13 turnovers, but the Crusaders (6-5) took care of the ball in the second half and narrowed the deficit to four points (62-58) with two minutes left.

Alec Peters’ 3-pointer got the Crusaders to within 1 point and following a Billiken made free throw, LaVonte Dority then tied the score at 65 with a layup. The Billikens made a final run down the floor with four ticks left and Mike McCall tipped-in a missed Rob Loe layup to break the tie and win it for Saint Louis.

Dority scored 21 points for Valparaiso, who shot only 38 percent from the field. They average 51 percent on the season.
