Chattanooga rolls over Hiwassee 86-68

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Z. Mason scored a career-high 41 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Chattanooga rolled over Hiwassee 86-68 on Tuesday night.

Chattanooga (4-6) pulled away after leading 39-36 at the break, shooting 65.4 percent from the field in the second half.

The Mocs opened the second half on a 16-5 run, making their first five field goal attempts of the half. Mason had 10 of his 19 second-half points during the stretch, scoring eight points in the first 3 minutes of the half. Hiwassee could not recover after the run, and Chattanooga’s double-digit lead stood for the rest of the game.

The Mocs shot 56.1 percent from the floor, led by Mason who made 16 of 20 field goal attempts and 3 of 4 from 3-point range. Casey Jones scored 17 points and Martynas Bareika added 10.

Howie Meadows led Hiwassee (1-8) with 26 points and Justin Browner added 13.
